Program Leadership

The University of Miami at FAU Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program is lead by a team of compassionate healthcare professionals with extensive experience in palliative medicine. The selected fellow will work closely with these leaders to gain valuable knowledge and experience in end-of-life care.

Richard S. Levene, DO, FAAFP, FAAHPM

Dr. Richard Levene retired from acitve Family Practice and joined Hospice of Palm Beach County in 1997. He currently oversees the Academic Medical Education Department and is the Program Director for the Fellowship Program. Having a strong history with the Hospice of Palm Beach County clinical team over the years, Dr. Levene held the positions of Assistant Medical Director, Clinical Medical Director, and Vice President of Medical Affairs. He attended the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Long Island, New York and after completing a one-year rotating AOA internship at Delaware Valley Medical Center in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, he completed his Family Practice Residency at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey. Dr. Levene is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and holds Certificates of Added Qualifications in Hospice and Palliative Medicine by both accrediting bodies.
